Royal Decree


The heads of the constitutional offices had to be retained in absence of further Royal Decree despite the expiry of their term primarily to avert the need to change the heads of these important institutions with every incoming new government. It is important that the transition of government does not coincide with the term of these constitutional posts.

On appointment to the constitutional posts by His Majesty the King, the Chief Election Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Chairperson and the Auditor General took Oath of Office and Secrecy as per Article 31 (6) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan on August 6, 2010 at the Kunrey of Tashichhoedzong. The Honorable Chief Justice of Bhutan administered the oath.

They will serve office for a term of five years.
